LUTHERAN SERVICE BOOK (LSB) DIVINE WORSHIP EVERY SUNDAY AT 9:30 A.M.

OFFICE OF MATINS SERVICE EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 10:00 A.M.

“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!”   Psalm 95:2-1

Let’s do this! Let’s sing to the LORD! Let’s make a joyful noise! Let’s come into His presence with thanksgiving and praise! These words from Psalm 95 form what is called the Venite and are sung as part of the Office of Matins. In the words of the Psalmist, we are invited to worship. We are invited to come and kneel in the presence of our Lord and Maker. Here at St. Luke we have accepted that invitation.  Every Wednesday we will pray the Office of Matins. The intention is to make this a weekly service offered in addition to the Divine Service on Sunday mornings. We have made a slight adjustment to the start time for Bible class (10:30 a.m.). The Matins service will include the liturgical elements from the hymnal including an Office Hymn, Scripture Readings, the Canticle, etc. It will typically last 20-25  minutes. If you have some errands to run, plan them around Matins. If you’re sitting around the house, come pray Matins. Everyone is invited. Bring a friend or a neighbor. This is a great time to introduce people to church in a less intimidating way. And, as long as you’re here, stick around for Bible class which will begin immediately following the service.

So, let’s do this! Let’s sing to the LORD! Let’s make a joyful noise! Let’s come into His presence with thanksgiving and praise! Take a break from the week and gather with the Lord and His people. It will do you good…you have His word!
